Welcome to The NEST Alliance! Our story begins in 2007, when a small group of women began meeting weekly for prayer, Bible study, and earnestly seeking God’s will with all their hearts. By the second year, the Lord began placing on their hearts a vision of a bird’s nest woven together by small pieces that alone, are insignificant. But, when fashioned together, these pieces create a beautiful whole designed for a specific purpose. God began weaving The NEST together long before any of them knew where this vision would lead as they stepped out in faith, serving local children at-risk or in need for various reasons, with their personal resources to provide food and supply basic needs. Early on, inspiration from Matthew 9:37-38 became an important truth: “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest fields.” In March 2010, a name, The NEST, was formed as the acronym that illustrates the group’s desire for bringing children into the demonstration of the love of God, the Nurturing, Establishing, Securing and Trusting environments that all children deserve and should have the opportunity to experience as a child.

In April 2010, like-hearted people began gathering at the regular meeting place for The NEST at a local office location that grew to be referred to as “The Table.” Various faith denominations were represented at The Table, but the faith goal was the same – to give children and families, whether biological, foster or adoptive the hope and future of Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11. Without fail, time, talents and resources were freely offered. Teachers, therapists, an accountant, an attorney, business owners, child protective workers, childcare providers, children and youth ministers, community organization leaders, contractors, cooks, county officials, educators, electricians, farm owners, a food ministry, foster and adoptive families, heating specialists, church leaders gathered and an alliance and a NEST Kids Program was born by summer 2010. A well-located building became available from which we first began a weekly NEST Kids outreach program that has continued since that time. We became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2011, and 3 ongoing missions and an established NEST Center are now in place. The dignity of those we serve is top priority, and no pictures or names of those we serve are made public. The lists below provides an overview of were “Our Story,” is in our 16th year. Our Story can be followed in our quarterly newsletters that began in 2015 and are found on this website. These newsletters capture and document “Our Story, and are often referred to as “our diary.”

Following is an overview of our missions and of The NEST Center, as of 2026, sixteen years after our beginning, that are in place to meet needs of those we serve:

Over 630 weekly NEST Kids programs

Over 11,200 individual meals served

Over 320 book bags, school supplies, clothing, & pairs of shoes for children

Over 320 gifts of clothing and food for children and their families at Christmas

Over 320 birthday presents

Over 640 van trips made to transport children to and from activities

Over 10,000 hours of volunteer time spent as adult mentors for children

Funds to help meet immediate needs as they arise for children and their families, including extra-curricular activities, funds for children with special needs, and a literacy partnership with Scholastic to provide books for children

Funds for foster children’s needs & resources for foster parents

Sponsorship support for 11 annual golf tournaments

Establishment of The NEST Center, a long-term goal of our Roots and Wings mission
